June 2009 Featured Tool -- The Personal Note
So many of you know you should be doing it but avoid it like the plague. I have discovered that there are three types of personal note writers - those that write a book, those that write a sentence and those that use SendOut Cards. Below are a few pointers that will help all of us become better writers and more efficient at this exercise.
1. Remember, the notes shouldn't be more than 5 or 6 sentences long. It is a NOTE - not a letter.
2. Practice makes perfect - begin by writing personal notes to your family and friends - you'll be amazed at the response.
3. It is true, the thought is more important than the actual written note on the inside.
4. SendOut Cards is a great resource to use and I recommend them; however, it does not exclude you from writing private, personal notes.
5. Nice stationery is nice - but not required. Just some plain cards that are clean and have a matching envelope will work fine.
6. Aim to write 5 to 10 personal notes per week. That number includes notes to your family (spouse and children) as well as business partners and clients. Not only will you make their day brighter, you'll feel good about yourself too!
